MMJ and celebrities infographicThere was a time when medical marijuana users were hesitant to open up about their experiences. After all, many stigmas and taboos surrounded the beneficial plant. These days, those obstacles are breaking down, as more prominent figures praise medical cannabis products and their ability to ease the symptoms of various qualified health conditions.

It’s unclear if the people listed below have active medical marijuana cards. However, these celebrities have all spoken out about using marijuana to help with pain or other struggles.

Whoopi Goldberg

Known for hosting the daytime talk show “The View” and starring in films like “The Color Purple”, Whoopi Goldberg is also a prominent marijuana advocate. She claims it helps relieve her glaucoma-induced headaches and allows her to cut back on anti-inflammatory drugs like Advil.

Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman has been vocal about his marijuana use for nearly two decades. He supports marijuana legalization and is amazed at all of the potential benefits that the plant has to offer.

In a 2015 interview with The Daily Beast, he stated, “I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana. They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life.”

Patrick Stewart

Sir Patrick Stewart has previously spoken about his use of cannabis for his aging hands. The “Star Trek” star, now 81 years old, stated during an interview with Esquire UK, “I mean, my main problem is my hands don't work very well. But thanks to cannabis they work much better than they used to. Thanks to the law in California now, it's just a spray that I put on.”
